Our “creek” was WalMart tonight. I was going to make a “quick run to the store” after dinner. My hubby asked if I would take one of the kids along. At first I protested, thinking of how it would slow down my plans. Then I thought a minute and called our daughter to grab her jacket a shoes.
My short grocery list turned into a two-hour shopping trip, but it was filled with fun and laughter and special mommy/daughter giggles. We looked at clothes and jewelry and shared thoughts and dreams and compliments. I’m SO glad I didn’t have the “quick trip” but instead got to enjoy some treasured one-on-one time with one of the sweetest 7-year-olds God’s put on this earth. :)

Thank you for the reminder. God had a long talk with me last night about this very type of problem in my life.

Thanks so much for the reminder. In the end it won’t matter if the laundry’s done or dishes clean if we forget to enjoy our children before they leave off on their own.

I did this in the backyard this afternoon. The weather is gorgeous today! With a 10 month old it’s easy to get stuck in the house. I was lamenting this today on the way home from the grocery store and remembered an idea I had to simply bring the pack and play outside. I started stressing that it wouldn’t work out and she would just start crying. And then I realized “soooo…then we would just go inside, silly.” So we tried it and it worked out great. Baby got to play with toys, feel the amazing breeze in her hair, listen to the birds and I got 10-15 minutes to read my book. Its not as exciting as a creek, but it sure felt good.
