Something Has To Give

Tags:  Everyday Faith, Family

Dishes photo by evelynishere (flickr) When your baby is crying and you don’t want to pick her up because you are

just.so.tired.

When you want to write but are

out.of.words.

When your man needs your attention just when

you.have.nothing.left.

When invisible dirt clings to skin and the shower beckons you to wash clean

you.don’t.move.

Something has to give.

A dry well doesn’t quench anyone’s thirst.

The temptation to do more, do better, creeps often to a soul’s door.

The temptation to get more involved in ministry…

The temptation to start another exciting project…

The temptation to work just a little harder to make just a little more money…

The temptation to feel guilty because you just aren’t doing enough.

Well you know what I’ve learned about doing? I’ve learned that it’s better to not do enough sometimes.

Many wonderful things will vie for attention in this life, but few are eternal.

I’m seeking the eternal first in my home as I’m raising eternal souls for their eternal purpose and destiny.

And I’m okay with that.

So even though there are times we are are weary in this life, let us not grow weary in doing the good that is good…that is eternal.

Persevere with me?

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

I just have to say that THIS SO DESCRIBES ME right now. 5 week old boy, house to clean, other kids home from school, need to try to make money, service to give through church, need sleep …. just a bit overwhelmed, but surviving, just surviving…
I know that this is the season I am in right now, but I wish I could do more. But I need to do less in order to get things DONE. Thank you for the reminder that I need to fill my vessel before I can help to fill anyone elses.

Thank you for voicing what I so silently scream some days…there is always once more voice crying for attention, one more project to be started, one more “could you? would you?” and the heavy (and getting heavier by the moment) bag of guilt that I insist on dragging around because I just can’t do it all and I feel as though I am not enough.
You reminded all of us that this is a season…and all will pass into another season…keep putting one foot in front of the other…keep praying and keep filling our vessel with the nourishment that comes from those moments of peace with our God.
You are a blessing.

This is my favorite verse. I have had it on my refrigerator for years.
Thank you and warm wishes, Tonya

Well said. So hard to remember when you’re in the thick of being so tired that you can’t even think.

Yup, that describes me to a T! Some days, I just want to run away screaming…only to realize that if I do, it’s all waiting for me when I get back. Thanks for the encouragement to just be…and to refocus my energies on what is most important.

Love, love, love this article!
I, too, am learning that it doesn’t all get done in a day.
I’m okay with that.
I must be filled to be emptied, and I love understanding that He fills me to pour all the goodness and love of Himself from me into those around me.
Blessings~

WOW…I am being SOOOO incredibly blessed by all of the words here on inCourage this week. All of these posts seem to be synching with one another, in a rythym and theme. Goes to show you that we moms/women are not alone. It’s almost silly that we feel that way sometimes, because we’re such birds of a feather! I think we guilt & pressure *ourselves* the most, WAY more than we *think* anyone or anything else does! Thanks for sharing!

Smile! This pic reminded me of our Fancy Friday Mug post. These mugs are fancy in that they tell a story of a mama leaving the chores for later and taking time to do the more important things…even if it’s just to stop, sit on the sofa, hold a baby (even if you are silently nodding off for a quick cat nap)…it’s okay.

I so needed this. I have been feeling almost everyone of those feelings the past few weeks. Nothing is ever enough, done well enough, there is never enough money…I have nothing left to give. Thank you for sharing this as I felt my “burdens” lift!

Wow. This is such a God moment. I have been enjoying the inCourage posts since I found the site this week and I was inspired by the 6/12 post about grace… so I started writing my own weekly post – full of weariness after a long medically intense week with my dd who’s adopted from foster care and her own behaviors lead to lots of medical needs. I have been broken down by this week, and as I wrote my post, I went back a few posts on inCourage and found this. You are a kindred spirit, my dear! Thank you so much for your honest and inspiring words!

Following my own analysis, thousands of people on our planet receive the personal loans from well known banks. Hence, there’s great possibilities to get a sba loan in all countries.
