You Really Are Making a Difference

Tags:  Making a Difference

I’m thinking of you today…

in the middle of your work, the middle of your world.

Sometimes it’s hard.

Sometimes it’s ordinary.

Sometimes it feels, well, small.

And as I prayed about what to share with you this month, it seemed one whisper kept coming back to my heart:

“Tell them they really are making a difference.”

So that’s what I want you to know today.

Whether you always feel it, whether or not you always see it–

you are changing the world in your own wonderful way.

One diaper at a time.

One word at a time.

One heart at a time.

We need you to be who you are, to do what you do…

and to keep on doing it no matter what.

Someone Who Loves You sees.

And smiles.

(I’m smiling with Him too).

Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Oh, how that Enemy can tell me I don’t matter and anything I do doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. What baffles me more is why I even give him an inch of mind space when the Creator of the Universe says over and over I matter much!

Thanks for encouraging us with God’s truth and reflecting it. Love you dearly!

As a mom of 4 young adult/adults, everything you do makes a difference. Every conversation you have, even with a 3 year old, every craft you help make, every diaper you change, every nose you wipe. You are building a foundation for a well-balanced, lvoing responsible human being. Keep on keeping on!

I just wanted to tell you how much this touched me. I subscribe via email and I get the post on my phone, everyday. I really needed this. When this came in this morning I had just thought to myself how there was no way that I was making a difference in the people that are around me. I work in education and I was really having a down day when I read this it made me cry. If this was for no one else it was for me. Thanks for all of the encouragement.

I’ve been trying to begin my online days reading a little (in)couragement every morning; today was just too full, so I’m ending reading a little (in)couragement.

Funny that I should read this after a (friendship) sinking spell. Guess God knew I’d need to hear it n.o.w. :)

Dear Holley,

Thank you for the encouragement. I have a God-sized dream of a new job where I can make a difference and hopefully help people. I do not feel that I make a difference at all where I am now. Nothing has come of the new-job dream…yet. Thank you for this, though. I’m thankful that God … and you :) … are smiling. Just making someone smile is enough to keep me going. :)

thanks for this encouragement today Holley…God is taking me out of everything that is known and familiar to me…i am not working due to a fall i had last month…i am feeling like i am drowning in the daily “stuff” at home in the midst of remodeling my kitchen and every step we have hit walls..the only thing that keeps me going is that God keeps whispering to me not to worry, it will get done and that there are people in the world that do not even have a kitchen…and if they do it may have a dirt floor..this puts me right into the thank you/praising God mode that my mishaps are small compared to what other women in the world face every day…your words encourage me to just plain trust in the Lord and not worry about the things that are temporary….each one of the ladies comments above have personal meaning for them…i thank you for your comments and prayers for all..may you have a blessed weekend…Javene

Even though I feel I am getting stronger handling problems that are so hard (son still is having problems and has not found his faith) – I have moments still…that “ememy” like Kristen said…still wants to pull me down. I will not let him….I will let go and let God come in. Thank all of you for sharing your moments and how you get through.

Hi Holley- thanks for the special message. I am part of a woman’s group in my community and our mission is to help children in need. We are focusing these next weeks with our food collection for families in need and sometimes I feel like our efforts are a “drop in the bucket” compared to the larger groups that collect millions of dollars and tons of food. After reading your words today, I am reminded that we are making difference in our corner of the world and that families will be blessed by our work and our gifts to them this Christmas. Thanks again for touching my heart with your wisdom and love.
God bless you…..Love, Linda

What a blessing, Holley! You make a difference. We do all need to hear that everyday. Remembering that our Savior thinks so does really make all the difference. :D My husband is really good about telling me this on a regular basis too. I am very blessed in that way. He is sick this weekend and I have been making homemade chicken soup, homemade chili, hot tea, running to the store for medicine and whatever else he needs. He is always so appreciative. He came up behind me in the kitchen earlier this evening and told me how much all I have been doing means to him. He told me that he is amazed at how I do what I do to take care of him and the boys with such joy. He told me how much it means to him. (tears of joy) He told me that every little thing I do makes him feel so special and that he feels the love behind each act of kindness. I give all glory to God because sometimes its not so easy being tired and feeling cranky but stopping the cranky words and choosing words of blessings instead…through the grace of God is the only way I can do it. I feel so blessed today! I need to remember to remind other women how precious they are and how much of a difference they are making! Like you!!!! :D

Blessings!

Mary Joy

Thank you for these thoughts, Holley! Once again you have brought tears to my eyes! Praise God!

Dear Rosita:

You are precious! Never feel that you aren’t making a difference. You are loved with a great and deep love. Remember who Jesus says you are! Remember the love our Father God has for you! We all need to remember that. I just don’t want you to give up! You matter to God and very probably to more people than you know! God bless you! You matter to me, and I haven’t even met you! Let’s pray for one another! I am praying that you find rest, hope and joy in God, Jesus your Savior and the Holy Spirit!
You don’t need to perform for anyone. You need to be for God – a vessel though whom He can show Himself!

Because of Jesus,
Cindy
