Can you hear the whispering voice of God calling you?
It takes courage for me to sit in the empty quietness of my home and just listen, just be still and trust this voice I am hearing. It takes faith to sit and endure the quite patiently, trusting and believing the promise that the Holy Spirit is living in me speaking to me.
I am a Christian, a wife, a mother of 4 and I am a Christian artist. I have been called!
I am called to use my gifts and talents to serve a living God. My journey is to live a life of faith and honor God.
“Art is a collaboration
between God and the artist,
and the less the artist does the better.”
Quote by Andre Gide
I share my art as a form of worship and praise for His Glory alone. I share my journey so that others will see the joy in me which can only be found in a relationship with a Loving God. I wanted to be called, called to serve and called to be his hands and feet. My dream is to minister to women through art workshops, retreats and bible studies. God has placed this dream in my heart and his plan shall prevail.
I work in my studio at home. Although I am home alone, the kids are all at school and my husband is at work, I am not alone. Through my artwork I experience a personal connection with God. In the process of creating artwork the gap is bridged and I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. I do not want to be just another artist out there seeking affirmation and success.
I want my art to be a reflection of the relationship I have with Jesus Christ. I want to be a blessing and inspire everyone to have relationship with Jesus. I know that with out God and the talent he has blessed me with there would be no art.
When people look at my art work I hope they are blessed and see the glory of God’s light shining through it and in it. I will not white wash my faith or categorize it as spirituality to be more acceptable or marketable to the mass public. It is only through the seed of creativity which has been planted within me by God and God alone, that I create art.
God has planted His seed in the fertile ground of my heart so that it will bear much fruit for which I will share as a testimony of the work He is doing within me. This gift is something that God has given me for the purpose of building up others in a life of faith.
Art is the voice God has given me to share his love, grace, peace and forgiveness. I am ordinary women with an extraordinary dream to minister to other women through the gift of my art.
If our gifts are given for a purpose, then do we not also have a responsibility to use these gifts as best we can?
We ALL have gifts given to us according to the Holy Spirit.
Romans 12:5-6 “so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us, let us exercise them.”
I encourage you to use your gifts to build a stronger relationship with Jesus and Give Glory to God.

Ah… this makes my heart joyful reading about someone else so like me. I, too, am a Christian artist with much the same desires as you. Please pray as I begin a very large piece of artwork to be used in a prayer station for a week of 24/7 prayer next month. God has given me vision for the piece (about 2 years ago), now a title for the piece, and has told me “It is time.” I am ready. I pray many will be blessed as God speaks through my work.
Hey, one of my favorite quotes too!

Thank you for posting this message! God has also called me to be an artist for Him. He has called me to make rag quilts to give out as prayer quilts. He shows me which fabric to use and I pray for the person the whole time I’m quilting. It has been such a joy for me to serve God in this way!
In Christ,
Sue

I love this post it was really what I needed to read this morning when I opened my email. I am a working artist and have been praying about if I need to continue wit this path and if so I really need a sign and I have been hit smack in the face with this one.

How nice to hear so many voices saying the same thing. While not a fine artist, graphic design ideas along with verses or bits of scripture pop into my head. I have found a fun outlet where these can be made available to others – as reminders to themselves, as reminders to others, and as question-provoking apparel. It’s so fun to answer God’s call!

Hi Deb, am into art also. And I pray that through this channel I could give praise to Him.
Thanks for the inspiration. I hope one day I could be featured here. c”,)’
