Happy first week of Spring!
My neighbor snipped off this fragrant and beautiful lilac for me
as we paused to talk along her fence last spring.
I carried the flower home and placed it in a small bottle of water on my kitchen table.
For over a week, my neighbor’s kind gesture filled my home with a beautiful God-made perfume.
It was seemingly such a simple, random gift but one that continues to impact me today. I will never forget the sweetness in the air and the kindness of her gesture.
What opportunities might we have to share the beauty of God’s love with people around us this spring?

Lovely! I wish I could smell that lilac now. 😉 It’s autumn here in Melbourne, how wonderful it must be in springtime.

I think another good way to share God’s love is to send meaningful cards to people, especialy if it is impractical to talk with them in real life.

Yes, I love the idea of sending cards and letters. It is unexpected these days to receive a card or letter in the mail. What a great way to show love!

You are lovely, Melissa, thank you for helping us make our lives the same way! XO

Isn’t it funny how JUST SEEING THE PHOTO of the lilac….I could smell it?
Beautiful post and mind picture..

Thanks Wanda, it is amazing how a photo can remind us of a scent!!

Your presence with them, phone call, card or bake a pie & take it to a neighbor. There are soooo many ways to share God’s love – not only in SPRING, but all year through!
I pray for people, send e-cards, & occasionally buy or make a meal for someone who is ill.

I know it may sound impersonal, but I have quite a few friends that I have built friendships with on twitter. I send encouraging tweets to them, or specifically ask how they are doing, among all the other noise!

I just blogged about that very type of sweet act a couple days ago, after our neighbor delivered the most adorable spring treats to our kids! Whether giving or receiving … such acts just make you smile.

You have a real gift in making simple thing beautiful by the way you display them. I love to decorate but am challenged by having to use things that I have had so long that I am tired of them. I’m going to look at my stuff and see if I can’t rearrange things so they take on a new look. Thanks for the ideas!

Thank you Susan. It is fun to take some of those things that you are bored with and switch them around — you might find you like them all over again! 🙂

I love how one small gesture can remind you of kindness all week.
Today I saw a field of yellow flowers, but I drove by. . .much to busy to think about stopping.
However, tomorrow my one of my best friends will be receiving a bouquet of those hand-picked beauties.

She will love that, what a sweet thought!

thanks for the post. One way my husband and I show God’s love is every Sunday we have what we call Sunday dinner with our neighbors. We take turns cooking dinner for each others families at our homes. The best thing is our neighbors were brought up in the church but have strayed away and it has given us opportunities to open the door back up and have some great converstations.

That is AWESOME!!! What a great idea!! I love it.

Lilacs are my favorite and the scent from that picture seems to be wafting my way! Unfortunately I realize it is only a dream as a late winter snowstorm is brewing over us and the scent of lilacs in my yard are a couple months away. Spring seems so far away, but it will come again and I look forward blessing others with the scents of spring!
Blessings,
Tammy ~@~
