I think that making memorizing fun is a key to getting God’s Word hidden in little (and big!) hearts. Here is how my little ones memorized the 10 Commandments (set to the tune of “Doe a Deer”):
(Can’t see the video? Click here)
10 Commandments simplified for the lyrics:
1. Worship only God
2. No graven images (graven-to make an idol of, to impress something deeply)
3. Don’t take God’s name in vain
4. The Sabbath is for rest
5. Honor mom and daddy
6. Don’t ever murder
7. Be faithful to your spouse
And don’t steal (8) don’t lie (9) and don’t wish for others things (10)
What are some fun ways you’ve tucked the Word into your babes hearts?

Cute!
We taught our whole Junior School the Books of the Bible using the Bigsbyshow.com ‘s song. We made this cute clip ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdnJDVQ_xqY&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL ) for our performance at Presentation Night (imagine 180 kids singing along…so cute!)

I really like this. I’ve started to use it to teach my boys. They were learning the 10 Commandments in Sunday school but not as a song. I think the song will help them remember them.

We have a board book that we’ve used with our 3 girls, called “Hand Commands” by Ann Dunagan. It teaches hand motions to go with each commandment – God used it mightily in our family! I do like the song, though! π

This is great! and good for adults too… I attended a small christian college where a professor once asked our class if we believed the 10 commandments. After we answered in the affirmative, he asked us to name all 10. We couldn’t do it, and his point about really knowing what we believe was well-made.
I’ll be teaching this to my kids, so THANK YOU.

This is cute! So cute that I made a version for Catholic and Lutheran kids, who use a slightly different numbering system for theirs. (Sorry, I haven’t got one for Jewish readers. Yet!) If anyone is interested, give me a shout!
