When you are a homemaker you have so many responsibilities; the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry, maybe even supplementing income. Then when you add other life stresses like illness, finances, extended family stresses life can get a little overwhelming. Sometimes, it is so easy to get caught up with the things that we have to do around the house or other outside stresses going on in our life that we forget how important it is to nourish the souls of the ones that we love the most. When you think of your job as a homemaker what is your most important job? Is it that you might get your “to do” list done for the day or that you would speak to the hearts of others that live in your home?
Many days I fail to take advantage of the life I can bring by my words.
Some days I don’t bring life by my words to my children and/or husband and instead I choose to bring death by my words.
Days go by when I am hard on my children and take my frustration out on my little ones.
A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction. Proverbs 16:23
If it is true that a wise man’s heart guides his mouth, don’t you think it is also true that a wise man’s words would speak into the heart of another?
We must choose our words carefully when we speak into the hearts of our husband and children. If we are frustrated, irritated, too busy, and bothered we are tilling to soil of our loved ones hearts.
Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
As believers in the true God, we can also help guard the hearts of those who surround us. There will always be days when our words don’t give the life giving water of Jesus as they should, but his well runs deep. Encouraging words will be nourishment to the souls of our children. – Nourishment that the world doesn’t give. Nourishment that only Jesus can give.
Today, as you speak to your children, your spouse, and those who you walk beside speak into their heart. Share with them the significance that they have in the eyes of the King. Give them words of life, health, and healing. Speak only praise, love, and words of life. Not things that aren’t true, but life. I pray that you will pull water from the well that runs deep and give life to those who need it.
