  1. On a rainy Friday afternoon, a coworker gave me a ride home and had to stop by the post office on the way to drop a card in the mail. Our conversation on the way there was about the impact of cards. Telling her of my new resolve to send hand-written cards and notes this year rather than emails, we both agreed that it’s a tradition quickly fading in today’s world. Less than 5 minutes after getting home, the FedEx truck pulled up and delivered the package with the card organizer & cards (which I did not even realize I had won)! God is SO good and this is affirmation that He is leading me to reach out to others in this way. Thank you so much!

  2. I was one of the first 200 prize winners. I had entered thinking that there was NO WAY I would win but I did, but I didn’t know it. So when this box came at the front door I wondered who, what, why and when I opened it I felt blessed. I felt happy to get mail. I felt lucky. Now I want to share all those feelings with others.

I can’t quite get it together to post on the blog, then link, then make sure it all works. But I can manage to send out a card a week until all of those cards are gone. I know I must have more cards in the Basement Store” as I like to call it.

  3. My son is at Marine bootcamp until March 9th. We can only send cards and letters. He writes to us once a week. We are getting to know our son and his heart through these letters. In a way that we otherwise would not have. What a blessing it has been to be able to write to him at least twice a week and also send a fun card here and there. I just wish stamps didn’t cost so much!

  4. I have been sending cards out this year it is fun and challenging to find ‘just the right one’ and when I doubt myself I send it anyway and have gotten feedback, “that was just what I needed for this day”. The thing I need to do more of is LISTEN to that small voice that says “this card is for ….” and send it.

  5. I SO love sending cards! Several years ago, I became suddenly ill and was hospitalized for 3 weeks. I was then off from work in recuperation for about 5 months. During that time, I received over 300 cards from family, friends and even people from my church who I had never met. Each card touched me deeply. That has now become MY ministry. I want to touch other’s lives the way I’ve been touched. Just knowing that someone went out of their way to buy a card for you when you’re feeling bad really lifts people’s spirits!

  6. For several years added ‘writing my prayers’ within my journaling and have found it very helpful . . . so enjoy this sight and the encouragements that are within! Thank you!

  7. I am going to write my Compassion Child right THIS INSTANT! 🙂

And, I found a recipie in this magazine that I need to send to my sister!

🙂 Thanks for the reminder of how the little things matter.

    & congrats to the winners!

  8. I had no idea that I would get an organizer along with the cards. What a wonderful surprise! It really made my day. Now I hope to do the same for others by sending these cards. Thank you.

  9. Cards!…..They really do matter…..they hold the hearts of people and are powerful enough to open a closed heart. I had a mother-in-law once that insisted when she passed….all the cards (snippits of the hearts of those that loved her) were to line the inside of her casket. She loved people and people loved her. In my inbox….I have a treasures file….anyone who says kind things to me…..are my treasures…..MY VERY OWN! So…..I make sure the words that I send to others make them feel treasured too!

  10. I know the giveaway is over. I just wanted to share that I do try to send cards to special people, and I just added another; a little girl that we used to go to church with that gave the bestest hugs! It was her birthday, and I had not ever sent her a card. I think since we don’t see her at church anymore she would enjoy getting it, and I know it would also mean something to her Mom. Also, a dear friend of my Father’s (who we lost in March 2011) passed away. I don’t really know the man, but I thought his widow would appreciate a note in a sympathy card explaining who I was, and that I was sending it because I wanted her to know the every time my Father spoke of her husband he said “my good friend, and his name,” EVERY time. I know someone sending me a kind word like that about a loved one has made me remember and feel better, even though the loss is still there.

  11. Cards have always been an important part of my life, both as a recipient and one who loves sending them. My very favorite holiday is fast approaching – Valentine’s Day! I make it a practice to send anonymous cards to people every year who I am certain will have no one else remembering them that day! I recently visited a friend in South Africa who tells me how much her life has been impacted by the cards and notes I send her. She is a pastor there, who’s on dialysis andcan not travel to the US right now. I met her 5 years ago, during her last trip here. It was a very brief meeting, but I followed up with a card and note telling her how much I appreciated the talk I heard her give. We continued corresponding, and made many. many phone calls to each other, and that culminated inthe most fantastic month of my life when I went to Sa to spend time with her. Had I not sent that card perhaps I’d have missed out on one of the most incredible friendships of my life!!

  12. I just read this about the card giving, (trying to catch up with my emails ugh!!) Last year my mom found out in early Feb that the cancer she beat twice before was back again, and this time it was terminal. So for her 73rd birthday in April I hosted a “card-party” because I wasn’t sure what sort of health she would be in, so I though what a great way to celebrate my mother and the day she was born. I sent out emails, messages on facebook and made phone calls to tell friends, neighbors and relatives about the gift I knew would make my mom’s most likely last birthday a happy one. Well my mom received just over 100!!! cards!! She said it was the best birthday ever and she said it was nice to feel so loved and cared for in her last year of life! I strongly encourage ALL people to do this for others! What a great way to honor them! My mom passed away in July 2011, i miss her dearly but feel warm and happy knowing I helped make her last birthday a happy one!

  13. I am a winner! 🙂 Thank you again to (in)courage and Dayspring… I can’t wait to bless the loved ones in my life with the beauty of your cards! Congrats to the other winners, as well! Such a blessing!
