  1. I think this is perfect timing for me. Prayer is my word this year. A big word with huge, amazing power! I appreciate Richard Foster and The Celebration Of Discipline so I am sure this will be amazing too. Thank you for picking such a worthy topic, one that most of us struggle with. Prayer changes everything!

  2. Wow, I am very intimidated on this one. Sounds like a heavy book and a heavy topic. However, I love to see you guys talk about the books and break them down into manageable pieces. 🙂

    • Don’t be intimidated!!!! We promise to do our best to make it accessible:) its easy to feel like prayer is complicated and heavy-hopefully you’ll join us and see how we felt the same!

    • Leigh!! THANK YOU, lovie! I’m THRILLED to join Angie and Jess…and the friends who’ll be joining them “on the sofa.” Meeting Julie was a treat–does she know EVERYONE in Nashville?

Thanks for encouraging me with your comment; I like it when people talk about me behind my back :).

    • Hi Ashley,

SORRY for my delayed reply (I’ve been on the road since we completed filming :/); have you gotten your answer yet? I’m almost certain sponsored book copies have all been spoken for, but I’ve seen several people say they found copies at their local libraries. (Answer to your specific question is on this post: https://aws.incourage.me/2013/01/prayer-request-a-sponsored-copy.html Sponsored books requests opened yesterday and usually all available copies are requested VERY quickly…but you’re certainly welcome to try :).)

    • Susan, YES YES YES! There’s no need to be on Facebook or have a blog or anything social media-y :).

You just need to pick up a copy of the book and follow along each week. The schedule is posted above, but we’ll get started with videos and companion posts on February 11th :).

      LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!!

  3. […] and I would love for you to join the study too.  The schedule for the book club is available here, or you can follow the Bloom button on the right side of this […]

  4. Hi I have only just found your blog. I would very much like to join this study as indeed the discipline
I can’t afford the book but will you put things on the log that I can follow from the uk please?

    • Certainly, Tracy :), that’s my role as Book Club Manager. We won’t cover EVERYTHING in the chapters (impossible!) but we’ll hit some meaningful highlights, both on the videos and in the posts. We’re glad you’ll be following along :).

  5. Im looking forward to this. My prayer life is in drastic need of overhaul! I know this is a prayer answered because its been pretty dry and crusty since Thanksgiving 🙁 I appreciate the opportunity to study this <3

  6. Thank you so much for this opprotunity. I am a stay at home momma to a 2 year old, sometimes it’s just nice to have adult ‘interaction’

  7. AngelQueen ~ I’m so thankful so many libraries have this book on their shelves; several have told us so.

Ashley ~ oh, I remember those days! You’ll find refreshment over the coming weeks. This study is deep AND wide!

  8. I’m looking forward to growing in obedience and understanding as my prayer life is enhanced.

  9. Prayer is a “feel good no matter what” for me – I talk to God all the time – I would say that is my “prayer” – it’s in my mind, body & soul – 24/7/365 – in the best or worse of life & I’m all good with that:) This will be very interesting!

    • Phyllis,

Well, it certainly seems like you’re intentioned in your prayer life; Foster’s broad scope of the types of prayer will possibly blow your mind!! 🙂

  10. I got a copy of my book today, and needless to say, I am beyond thrilled! I’m having a hard time putting the book down, and I can’t wait to join the discussion. This seems to be just what I need right now, as I am going through some struggles. My husband has some very serious medical conditions, which has wiped out our financial situation. I’ve been worrying myself litterally sick! This is just what I need!!!!!!

    • Lisa,

I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s illness :(, and how it has affected your finances. It’s hard to understand that even in the midst of that God is at work in your lives. I do pray that this study helps you to see Him more clearly, to have a sweeter fellowship with the One who loves you most.

  11. Cassie, Marilyn, ShaLonda and Laura,

Thank you for sharing your excitement and reasons for wanting to take part in this study; do you realize how much that encourages US? We’re grateful for your participation, but hopeful as your lives are changed as a result of spending time seeking God through prayer. 🙂

  12. I am so excited to kick the book off tomorrow! I had a question though, what is section 1? Is it in the book? What parts are you talking about exactly? (I’m really sorry about the unintelligent questions)

  13. Looking forward to this adventure & to a sense of community. I read PRAYER a few years back & have had it on my mind lately. This announcement seemed meant to be!

  14. I see a need around me for more intercession. So many people asking for someone to pray with, for them. Want God to guide and bless me for this in 2013.

  15. I got the book and will be following you from Germany.
Thanks so much for the “push” towards prayer!

  16. Loved the first chapter. Prayer has always been a struggle for me, because I’ve envisioned it exactly as you guys talked about.. some big holy thing, when really, God just wants me to pay attention to Him.. and give Him the attention, and praise He deserves. Thank you for this study! Many blessings!

  17. I intwnded to start reading with everyone and then I got sick last week 🙁 hard to get back in a groove 🙂
