Fun on Fridays
If you’ve taken part in a Bloom book club before, you already know we like to do something a little different on Fridays. For our fall session, we have two special treats in store:
1) FOR you: Each Friday we’ll feature a guest post by an artist from our broader incourage community–and, by “artist”, we mean artist in the “A Million Little Ways” sense!
As you begin mining the depths of Emily’s book, you’re going to look at yourself differently. You’ll begin to see how you are living art created in the image of God, and how you are making art in your daily life by pursing your passions. Look at the wonderful photo Nester took (above) to begin thinking beyond the traditional definition of artist; gardener, seamstress, cake decorator, homemaker, baker, carpenter, songwriter, potter–begin praying now for the Lord to speak to you throughout this study, and for you to know Him better by the end of our time together.
2) FROM you: We’re asking you to upload photographs of you in the midst of creating and living your art – to instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook – and tag them with the #inbooks hashtag.
We’ll collage a handful every week and link back to you. Wanna see what we mean?

Here, I captured a few images of Emily’s book in the hands (and near the paws) of her readers. You’re welcome to stage a fun shot, too; the more creative, the better. Or, show us what it is that you do to live and make art–how you love your children, a meal for someone in need, a prize-winning lily you’ve grown. Please show and tell us about it, and remember to use the #inbooks hashtag so I can find it!!
So, I bought the book and I’ve read it…now, how do we sign up for Bloom?
Obviously, this question is not for those of us who’ve taken part in previous studies, but because I’ve been asked multiple times since Jessica and Angie announced our fall selection, I thought it best to address it one more time for our new readers.
1. Bookmark the Details & Schedule page; scroll to the bottom where you’ll find the calendar we’ll be following. At a glance, you can always know what to expect and when.
2. Sign up for Bloom emails (a separate email subscription from general (in)courage blog posts). Whenever a new video/post is live for Bloom, you’ll receive email notification and can read at your convenience.
3. Bloom is at its best when you join the conversation! You can do so directly in the comment section of each post, or choose to engage with others on the Bloom Facebook page. We don’t have a separate forum for conversation, but we urge you to read and reply to one another’s comments. Most videos end with a call for action, and between that, the book’s content and the blog posts, there will be plenty for us to talk about.
4. Tweet your favorite quotes from what we’ve covered each session, whether from the video, blog post or book (longer quotes make wonderful Facebook updates!!). Be sure to use the #inbooks hashtag to make it easier to find!
5. Capture your art in a photograph and share it on instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook using the #inbooks hashtag! We want to see how the Lord is working in you, changing you and inspiring you through A Million Little Ways and Emily’s message. You’ll hear Jesus spoken throughout the entire book.
Be sure to check in Friday where you’ll get to meet Emily for the first time as she joins Angie and Jessica on the sofa–you’re going to be fast friends, I can already tell.
Peace, love and hot pink gerbera daisies,
~ Robin for Bloom

I am absolutely loving this book – my Kindle version looks like a rainbow with all the highlighting! And to discover that my little instagram pic had been featured in the post today? It’s seeing my art come to life outside of my world – photos + words. Thank-you Robin for the lovely surprise, and thank-you (in)courage for inviting us all to journey together with Emily’s soul-breathing words.
Robin Dance says
Alison,
Rainbows are special no matter WHERE they show up, right? 🙂 I’m SO glad you discovered your shout out AND saw this as art!! I can’t wait to see the #inbooks hashtag wearing people out!!
Kirsten johnson says
Is there any way that maybe there is a book donation for someone who cannot afford the book?
Robin Dance says
Oh, Kirsten…
We have a sponsored book program that we announce at the beginning of every new Bloom study. The deadline is now past and requests can no longer be made. Perhaps check it out of your local library? I’ve heard others have had success finding it!
Patty Muich says
Kristen,
If you are unable to find a book you can contact me. patty.muichATgmail.com 🙂

I’m with Allison! My Kindle is full of highlighted areas, and I’m really looking forward to gaining even more insightful tips for practical applications from Emily, Angie, and Jessica during the videos. And of course, I always look for you to sum up all the goodies in a sweet package, Robin. I’m so encouraged from the gals at (in)courage!
Robin Dance says
Janice,
The Sofa Girls were ON FIRE with this study (or maybe I just crazyloved the book?? And NEEDED it right now???). It’s good to hear how the (in)(Bloom)girls encourage you, but YOUR words are blessing to us! Thank you!!
Cheryl Jacobo says
So looking forward to this book! Any idea when we will know if we’re receiving a sponsored book?

I am SOOO excited to get started on this study!
Looking forward to growing closer to Christ and the gal He designed me to be…and finding a deeper meaning in the art I create.
I am fortunate to work as a full-time artist…finding out who I am in Him as a creative, will take things to a whole new level, I’m sure!

I am so excited with the new selection and blogs! Meanwhile, the colors at the house brighten the discussions around the table at our monthly meetings. I’m looking for new recipes from Shauna Niequist’s. I am in love with the Lord, a special person in my life, my lively and great companion, a nine years old grandson who lives with me, friends, and my online community. I am saying Yes Everyday Surrender with VCC Women’s Ministry and Lysa Terkeurst. I’m thrilled with the new audiotapes from the Million to exhibit at our meetings. What else I need?

Hi Robin, I was wondering if submissions will be requested for upcoming Friday guest posts as they were for Bread & Wine ~ or maybe it’s being worked differently this time. And your closing “Peace, love & hot pink gerbera daisies” made me smile. 🙂
Robin Dance says
Ahhh, Donna, a fellow flower child (in my case, wannabe) :).
No, we’re handling guest posts a little different this time (you cannot imagine how time consuming that was last time!!).
Maybe in future studies, so keep those emails coming to know for sure :).

Thanks, Robin!

I want to thank you so much! I received my giveaway this morning. It couldn’t have come at a better time. After receiving the news of a love one who has cancer. It brightened my morning.
Thanks again

My dream as a little girl was to be a momma. I had a very abusive mom and didn’t ever get the idea that I was beautiful or feel worthy of a husband or getting married. Consequently I did make a poor choice but I have 2 wonderful daughters and 2 grand daughters who are so amazing. I am a teacher and get to touch and hopefully brighten lives all the time. Just a touch or a high five can make a world of difference to a child any day of the week. My book is ordered and I can’t wait to read it.

Just discovered your website. Too late to join the book club? If not how do I join?
