  1. Yes, such a great post. “Kind words matter. Simple gestures are better than grand flourishes.” You’re speaking right to my heart, in tune with what the Lord’s been telling me lately, too. Everything matters…the words I speak in passing, the facial expressions, the way I react to other drivers, a sigh of impatience…it all carries weight. Some of it carries the weight of grace and that’s what I’m praying for…more grace, more awareness of all the ways I reflect the light of Christ or the sin of a fallen world.

    • Love this, April! And you’re right–that awareness of the ways we reflect Jesus also brings a huge responsibility too, doesn’t it? Good reminder for me as well. Thanks!

  2. Wonderful post. It’s amazing the things God can show us when we just take the time to be still.

  3. I love this, Shelly….I can just see you going from frustrated impatience to invited conversation. What a poignant reminder to slow down long enough not to miss the kind of graces that feed soul and spirit. So glad you chose this precious story to share <3.

  4. Shelly,
God will get our attention any way He can! “Kind words matter. Simple gestures are better than grand flourishes”. Those words are spot on!! Knowing those I say thank you to store clerks, smile often, and try to say hello to everyone no matter what. It just might make someone’s day! I find between Thanksgiving and Christmas clerks get unnerved a lot so a thank you, have a great day might bless them and make them feel better!
    Blessings 🙂
