  1. Chapter 10: I think struggling is just a part of being human. As I’ve gotten older, I realize that this world is really not my home… so there is going to be a “restlessness” while I am here.
Chapter 11: What I got from reading this chapter is the buidling a city is actually turning away from your disappointment, rather than sitting with it. Honestly, I think that if you don’t learn to sit with your disappointment, you can’t walk wth God. I can’t do life without HIm, so I’ve had to embrace the fact that things aren’t always going to go the way I want… but God has away of turning things around and making beauty out of ashes. I just need to trust. “Look for the beauty” is my new motto, I think.
Chapter 12: I was really convicted by Emily’s perspective on how we are to handle “boredom.” I think sometimes I miss the beauty of the everyday ordinary of today because I am looking forward to something spectacular down the road. I also loved it when she said, “Don’t try to change your atitude. Bring your atitude into the presence of Christ.” — So, to answer your question, I think I am mising experiencing more of Christ because I am so gosh darn focused on my personal happiness on most days.

  2. Chapter 10: Have you ever felt guilty for struggling, especially when your life seems good?

I have. I think I have been afraid that others would judge me as too sensitive, and reject me instead of pursue me.

Chapter 11: In what ways are you tempted to build a city in the midst of disappointment? What would it look like for you to sit on a bench instead?

I am tempted to do everything perfectly. I think sitting on bench would look like resting in God’s perfect love.

Chapter 12: What connections and have you missed because you are either remembering a former embarrassment or fearing a new one?

I feel like I am missing all of the possible connections in front of me right now.
