This weekend at (in)real life, we met at the altar of the Living God.
We gathered together with friends near and far. We reconnected, rekindled friendships, got our brave on, and went first with ‘hello’. We laughed, and you bet we cried. We shared raw and real stories of painful friendship breakups, and of what happens when we can’t see beauty yet from the ashes.
We raised our hands in worship, knelt in praise, and asked God the really hard questions we’ve been too scared to utter before. We heard from wise women who have gone first with their stories, their experiences, their bruised and healing hearts. We worshipped together, lifting our hearts and voices to our first and Best Friend.
Women of all ages admitted they’ve dealt with the same struggles, and realized that true strength lies not in trying to keep it all together, but in letting ourselves fall apart.
We took selfies like pros and shared everything #inrl. We rocked our ‘I’m just a sweatpants girl living in a skinny jeans world’ t-shirts, silently handed our neighbors tissues for their tears, and let the girl ahead of us in the lunch line know when she had mascara smudges under her eyes.
Hundreds of women across 4 countries and 35 states tuned in – from their bedrooms with pop-tarts and coffee in hand, from their church basements and favorite coffee shops, from their kitchens while baking pumpkin muffins, and in their mamas’ living rooms. They made space for friendship.

I paid for the simulcast but missed it. Is there anyway to watch a replay?

Thank you so much for making this conference available online! The encouraging words in this conference and Lisa’s book “Never Unfriended” have helped open my heart to God’s healing in broken places and given me joy in desiring to be the kind of friend Christ was.

Thank you for this today. Some days the small things are a great accomplishment! I don’t have clinical depression but have family members that do. It’s also hard to watch someone suffer and try to be a cheerleader all of the time. Some days 1 foot in front of the other and fall forward is the best we can do. But that’s enough.
