Be gracious to me, Lord, because I am in distress;
my eyes are worn out from frustration — my whole being as well.
Indeed, my life is consumed with grief and my years with groaning;
my strength has failed because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.
But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.”
Psalm 31:9-10, 14 (CSB)
Friends, our hearts are heavy.
Learning of the mass shooting in Las Vegas stole our breath and knocked us straight to our knees. We are grieving with all of those who are affected by this tragedy. Truly, as members of one body, we are all affected. We are all devastated.
And, we are weary. Like the psalmist quoted in the Scripture above, we feel consumed with grief and groaning. As we absorb the impact of this act, these losses — on top of seemingly endless violence and natural disasters around the globe — have certainly left us reeling and begging God for relief, for understanding, for strength.
Perhaps you feel a bit of the same? We are with you. And we are here for you. This community is a family, and today we want to join hands with you as we lift all our burdens to the One who can hold them, who can take them from us. Let us go to God with all of our grief and groaning; He can handle it. Let us pray for each other; it’s why He put us in community.
Please share in the comments how we can pray for you, how we can support you, how we can love you today. And then pray for a sister in the comments above you.
Let’s join together and bring our sorrow and our worries to the God who promises to always, always be a trusted place for them.

I’m thinking of you all, over there in the US. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
I’d love some prayer – my husband has left me last week (well, actually he made me leave as I can’t afford to pay the rent alone). I’m now a single mum to my 4 year old. My husband seems very lost and angry. Praying for strength and for my faith to not waiver. Praying for eventual reconciliation with my husband and for our marriage to continue, with God healing us.
Michele Morin says
Lord, we lift Hannah, our sister, up to you, asking for your courage, hope, and peace to flood her life. We pray for reconciliation with her husband and the rescuing of this home. We pray for a change of heart — a new heart and a new mind — for her husband. We ask for your protection and provision for Hannah’s 4 year old, for Hannah as a mum to be present to this dear one even as her heart breaks and her mind searches for answers to their present predicament. We thank you, Lord, that nothing is too hard for you, and ask for you to intervene in this situation in a mighty way, because of your glory, and we ask this in your precious name.
Amen.

Gail says
Dear Hannah,
I am praying for you in this very hard situation. I will be praying for the LORD to draw your dear husband to Himself, and back to you and your child. He is able, we know this. At times it does not work as we want it to, so reach out to others who can help you. Don’t go it alone. In the waiting, keep doing as you seem to be doing, Letting the LORD be your husband, and Father to your child. Know we all care deeply for your pain and hurt, and will lift you in prayer. We may never know what happens in your life, but our prayers will surround you always!
God bless and bring healing to your soul and help you through all your life ahead. I am so sorry. ♥
Mel says

Pleas pray for me to have the right words today when I resign from a job that I have loved at times but need to leave due to toxic situations.
Sharon says
Dear Lord, thank you for Michelle and how she served you in her job. Please give her wisdom, and words to express what she is feeling and what you would like her to do. Thank you that you go before us, and clear the way for us. Amen.
Linda Shukri says
Praying for those prayer requests above me – Hannah’s situation and others, and Mary’s financial, and Michelle, that the Lord will direct and heal relationships and provide financially.
My own prayer requests – safety as I travel from Canada to SC tomorrow to visit my mom and sister. Also, that I and my husband will be able to move back to the States – most likely SC – but the financial losses from selling our house (exchange rate) and paying off a debt (another believer owes us $) will not allow us to purchase another home. (We came here with no debt and paid our house in cash. ) A mortgage at our age and budget is not feasible. We came to PEI to help in a church 8 years ago and that ministry had to be resigned from 18 months ago. We are without a church family all this time – no Christian fellowship – and are having our own worship by ourselves listening to messages online. The Lord has been blessing many times over from the messages we’re hearing from SC. We’re looking for a miracle to have our own home and not have to sell everything and live with someone else. We pray that would be the Lord’s will for us – and to be part of a church family again.
Brenda says
Linda, such a time of transition for you in so many ways. Prayers for safe travels for y’all tomorrow, and for God’s favor to be upon your finances. I pray He moves in unexpected ways beyond what you could hope. — And, prayers that He will go before you and bring y’all to the perfect church family, where you can serve and be served. ((hug))

Sweet sisters in Psalm 40 .. I wait patiently for the Lord;he turned to me and heard my cry…verse1
In verse 3..He has given me a new song to sing, a praise to our God. Many will see what He has done and be astounded. They will put their trust in the Lord. Keep praying.. May the pain and suffering our world is in and under, bring more souls to Jesus and continue to glorify Almighty God

Tomorrow I will be having a cystoscopy and bladder washing to try to figure out why I continue to have blood in my urine. They will be looking for tumors, cysts, unhealthy cells.
Along with this, I am caregiver to our severely challenged son who still lives at home with us. Setting up appointments becomes very challenging. Please pray for Godly wisdom for the urologist and definitive answers, and a plan of treatment that is effective. Also for peace.
Trusting that Father God has everything in His hands. Thank you, my sisters!

Nancy,
I just came through my own series of tests, surgery, waiting for results. Praying for God to calm your anxious heart. Praying for a deep sense of knowing that you can trust Love’s heart – knowing He is good in all things. Praying that you might hold onto his righteous right hand knowing He won’t let you fall or be shaken. Lifting you up in prayer right now….
Blessings and ((hugs)),

Liz says
Nancy, I lift you up in prayer to the Lord as you go through these tests. I am a caregiver to my precious 33 year old daughter who has been disabled from Progressive MS for the past 10 years. While I consider myself blessed to be able to take care of her, I sometimes feel exhausted both physically and emotionally. Each day I pray for strength, energy and good health so that I can continue to care for her needs. I pray for these things for you also. I am sad to say that I was not brought up in church and my parents never spoke of Christ. I am now 56 years old and have, for a while now, been on a journey to feel close to God. I am a Christian, I study the Bible and pray everyday and these things bring me peace but I pray to find a woman’s Bible study group that I can join online. I am basically homebound because I must always be here with my sweet daughter but I feel I need support from Christian women to guide me as I strive to truly feel a closeness with God. I pray the Lord brings you strength and peace
Nancy says
Thank you, Liz. I will be praying that you can find a Christian friend in your community, and a Bible Study that you can take part in. Being a caregiver is such a blessing, but it can also be overwhelming at times. Be sure to take care of yourself so that you can take care of your sweet daughter. You are not alone, God sees you both, and He will give you everything you need to meet each new day. His Grace is sufficient. May you feel His love and strength. Keep looking up, Sister. Prayers, love and hugs to you and your daughter!
Michelle says
I am standing in agreement with all those asking for prayer, and those who are praying. I am thankful for community this morning. THESE are the times that I am thankful for social connections over the internet. I’ve been wrestling with something for quite a while (over 27 years in various forms)…and while it pales in comparison to what others are experiencing, I am of the belief that nothing slips by God. That what is important to us is important to Him, and He wishes us to be free from what we have walked in bondage to for years. Please pray for me that a clear and clarified answer would be given to me by the Lord about this, that this answer would be swift and freeing. Thank you sister. May God continue to bless each of us abundantly with His presence and grace during these trying times. Love you all.
Nancy says
Michelle, I cannot help but think of the song, Jesus Breaks Every Chain. It is very powerful. God cares about every detail of our lives, even what you may think is a small matter! Lifting you and all my sisters above, and even those of you who have not posted but have unspoken needs on your hearts. You are never alone. Be encouraged and know we care, and God sees you and cares even more deeply. Sending love.
Darlene says
Can you please pray for my neighbour Eva and her family as she lost her husband yesterday. She is like a Mother to me and we are very close. She had a stroke a couple years ago and is in a wheel chair. She amazes me in her strength and calm spirit. Not sure what her future holds as her husband was her caregiver. Thankful she knows the Lord. Please pray for her for wisdom for her as she is uncertain what the future holds for her. Thank you! I am so thankful for her and to the Lord for all of his goodness! I know He has it all under control. Thank you Jesus!
Kim says
God – please wrap your loving arms around Eva and her family at this time in their lives. Give them the strength to get through this devastating time. Also be with Darlene who loves Eva as a mom and hates to see her suffer. We’re also praying that Eva will have the support she needs with regard to her illness. Thanking you advance for all of these blessings you are going to bestow.
Sandy says
Just as Paul prayed for his new churches I am praying for all the members of my online church. Peace be with you.
C says
Being immensely lonely without relief and failure of relationships. Please pray for a break to see God’s grace and to stop being angry. Thank you.
Sarah Beckman says
C, lifting you before the Lord. “Heavenly Father, we ask you to be a source of comfort, companionship and concern like no other human can offer to C. May she FEEL your presence, as if you were with her physically. May she know peace and joy in her heart that passes all understanding. May you guard her heart and mind in Christ. I pray for revelation for what’s keeping her from you in her spirit. And I pray that she would allow perfect love to drive out fear and that she would have a spirit of love and power and self-control. She is a daughter of the King and you hold her in your hand each day. May she know this! And live it out each day. In Jesus’ Name. Amen”
Tayler says
I have a precious 2 1/2 year old daughter who has yet to have consistent, healthy sleep. I have been nearly broken physically, mentally and emotionally with the sleep deprivation these last couple years. I need hope and faith that the Lord has allowed it for a purpose and trust in Him even as I don’t understand. I need wisdom and strength as well as mental and physical renewal each day.
Houston says
Tayler, I am praying for you. I have just come through this valley and I know how deep and dark it can be.
Dearest Heavenly Father you love Tayler and her daughter so much and I know that you hear the distress of this sweet Mama’s heart. Be with her Father, partner with her as she struggles through this valley and let her know there is hope and rest on the other side. Holy Spirit fill Tayler when she has nothing left to give. I lift these beautiful women up to you and I pray that when they lay down to rest tonight they would both feel the comfort of your arms holding them close and that your peace would fill the room. Lord, I pray that you would help Tayler to have clear and direct discernment concerning anything that could be causing her daughter’s unrest. Give her the wisdom on how to eliminate whatever it may be that is causing this problem. I pray this now in the holy name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Penny says
Thank-you . I really appreciate this as I do all of you. May God bring you all comfort, healing, peace, and strength.
Blessings to you all,
Penny

Christine says
Reading through all of the comments already posted I know that I am not alone. I am going to be brutally honest and tell you that I wanted to shut the morning news off yesterday and pretend that I didn’t hear about it. Truthfully I cannot bear to hear about anymore tragedy. I am having a really hard time processing this. 2017 has been the year of grief for me. I know that I am still in shock and that eventually I will come to terms with reality. As I pray for all of you and the reality of your lives, please pray that God would help me process this most recent event without it overcoming me. I know that God does not give us more than we can bear so I know he will help me through this. His ways are higher than ours.
Heidi618 says
Christine, I am lifting you in prayer this morning. May God reveal His peace, strength and power to you. May He provide you with hope. He is the answer to these tragedies, may we all cling to Him when we are rocked to our core.
Funny thing is that as I type these words of prayer, I realize God is speaking to both of us. I am recovering from a mastectomy and struggling with depression, weary of the process, tired of not fully participating in life and frustrated. But God has just spoken to me. HE is a God of strength, power AND hope. He is with us and will show us our next step to heal.
Carol says
I am a firm believer that we do not need to know a person’s exact circumstances, that God knows what that person needs at this time in his/her life. So I ask our God to meet everyone’s needs in His time; to send clear messages to those who need to know what direction their lives need to go in.
Yesterday morning I got in my car to run an errand and heard about the Las Vegas shooting. God help all those who grieve. I also pray that somehow someone can give an explanation for why the shooter did what he did. I hope that somehow everyone who has lost a loved one or has an injured loved one that somehow in time they will have peace in their heart.
God we thank you for the blessings you have already bestowed on us and we pray for You to continue meeting the needs of the hurting and the needs of us who put our trust in You.
Mary says
Am praying for all my sisters that God will comfort and heal them. I ask for prayer for myself and my family- we lost our niece 4 weeks ago to cervical cancer. My mental health is on the brink of danger- not to anyone else- I’m just trying to
Understand a grief so deep and trying to be of help to my family- when I feel like a burden to them. I pray everyday for my family and our country that we may grow only closer to our mighty GOD.
Leslie McCarthy says
Father God, I lift Mary up to you now. I ask that You wrap her in Your loving arms and hold her close. Please minister to her hurting heart and comfort her and her family after this loss. Lord, when things seem unbearable, we look to You, the One who loved us so much You went to the cross and suffered so that we might have life. I pray that Mary will feel Your presence with her and that hope will be kindled because of who You are. I ask all this in the name of Jesus.♥
Leslie McCarthy says
We need prayer for provision, like so many others. Our car is about to quit and we have no money for repairs, and other needs as well. Thank you so very much to any who pray for us, we truly appreciate it. Praying for those above, in His loving name.
Yvonneness says
I am at a loss for words and I do not understand but I do know and trust He has a plan. Not sure what that is but He has one. I can feel anxiety trying to creep in for myself, kids and husband. For us all. I have problems of my own with my teenage daughter trying to grow up too quickly and then this. I feel so overwhelmed with everything going on. I don’t know how to take it in. I feel so helpless and wish I could do something but I can’t. I know my limitations. Please join me in praying for this world, for lost souls and for my daughter. She is my miracle baby and I know God loaned her to me for His great purpose. He has Devine plans for her life. She is going to do big things for His kingdom but the enemy doesn’t want to see that happen. Her name is Abigail. Please join me in praying for her to gain wisdom and for the Holy Spirit to reveal to her the truth. Thank you and praying for the requests above.
Blessings and Jehova Shalom fill you with His peace.

Lord I am praying for healing, strength and courage to all the ladies who are going through a difficult time right now, Lord you know their pains and heartaches release your presence of peace over them, make a way for them that needed your touch now, wrapped them in your arms and father them Lord. I asked this in no other name but the name of Jesus. Please pray for God strength on my life during my difficult time.

I am lifting up prayer for so many above. Please pray for our family, for my husband to come to know Christ as his savior, for our son to make the right choices as he navigates these strange modern teenage years, and for our patience as we raise our strong willed pre-schooler. It is so small but if you could also pray that I would get a full night of sleep I would be so grateful. Thank you (in) courage for being such a beautiful community.
Bev @ Walking Well With God says
Houston,
Our teens are up against evil that we cannot even fathom. Praying for your son as he navigates these years. Praying for your strong-willed preschooler and for you as you try to parent well. May God grant you rest each night so that you can be equipped to cope with what each day brings. Sometimes a good night’s sleep is HUGE!!

My son Matt and his wife Chelsea have responded to God’s call to move to Barbados and teach at a small Bible college. They have spent 9 months preparing to go, raising all their needed support in 3 months. Their work visas have been “in process” for over 3 months, with the promise that a decision to grant or deny them will happen in the next day or two. Please pray that they find favor with the immigration department and that they will be able to move very soon. Thank you all.
Father, you are sovereign and we know that nothing is a surprise to you. We trust you to work in the lives of all who are facing so many kinds of difficulties today. Please grant peace and comfort and encouragement right now and in the coming weeks and months. Draw us to yourself. Be near to Dale and reveal your purpose in these struggles. How loving and faithful you are to us. May we always remember that “Thus far you have helped us.” (I Samuel 7:12). In the precious name of Jesus we pray and ask these things. Amen.

Thank you for reminding us to anchor on Jesus who still sits on the throne and is still in control amidst senseless killings and never-ending tragedies. My family just needs a fresh revelation of God’s love. I don’t understand why some don’t seem to get it. I pray for that family who lost someone to find His peace and for the Lord to bless grace with finances and wisdom in best way to use her blessing.
Beth Williams says
In Courage,
It is great to see God at work in the midst of tragedy. I was awed hearing about the kindness people showed each other. Ordinary people willing to go above & beyond to get people to hospitals & out of the line of fire. So much love was shown there. It is sad that it takes a tragedy to bring this out. You don’t hear about this everyday. I pray for our country. May God bring about a revival. May we turn back to Him & leave our evil desires behind. Praying for all hurt during the shooting & those hit by the storms. Lest not forget to keep on doing good & praying for TX, FL, & Puerto Rico!
Blessings 🙂
