    I had trouble deciding between Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is in your midst; a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy. He will be quiet in his love. He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” (NASB)

    and Hosea 6:3: “So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn, and He will come to us like the rain, likethe spring rain watering the earth.” (NASB)

  3. Oh, how I love Romans 8:38-39!
    “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  4. I love the verse that Jennifer chose and it looks so beautiful in the medium she has used. Another verse that speaks to my heart is Isaiah 26:3 – 4. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  5. My absolute favorite verse (though it is hard to choose!) is the one I also chose for my blog theme, which is called His Mercy is New. It is from Lamentations 3:22-24…it’s also where the hymn Great is Thy Faithfulness came from. That verse just reminds me, encourages me and brings me hope that He is faithful. I can’t ever forget that!

  13. Isa. 40:31. This has been favorite of mine for a long time. To be able to mount up with extra energy and run, and walk and not be tired or weary. That time will come to those who “wait upon the Lord.”

  14. I love the verse you picked, and I love the New King James wording in verse 10 telling us He leads us and holds us, this verse makes me feel so safe with Him.

    9 If I take the wings of the morning,
    And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
    10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
    And Your right hand shall hold me.

    It is hard to pick a verse for a piece of art, but I think I would choose Psalm 16:11, one of my “go to” comfort verses when I start to feel uncertain about the future. And I love the visual possibilities that a path brings to mind.

    You will show me the path of life;
    In Your presence is fullness of joy;
    At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

    Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

  18. As a work in progress … I would love to see Philippians 1:6 on one of Jennifer’s works of art. “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to the completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

  19. Well, this has been one of my favorite verses since we sang a song that used these words in my high school church choir. But, the verse I’m currently clinging to is Zephaniah 3:17– “The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save, He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

  21. (For privacy purposes, please do NOT publish my name. My daughter shared her story freely– and from the onset–with high school groups in churches, youth groups, and schools as a wake-up call to teens…..but I don’t want to intrude on my granddaughter’s privacy.)

    Romans 8:28 ‘For we know that ALL things work together for good for those who love the Lord…and are called according to his purpose.’

    Nineteen years ago, our beautiful daughter–just graduated as valedictorian from high school–let us know that she was pregnant. She had been student body president, received every kind of academic award, had a promising future as a singer–all that came crashing down as she and the father quickly married.

    His abuse of her began quickly (much without our knowledge). Following an emergency appendectomy at 7 mos. pregnant, she was continually hooked up to IVs for the next month to prevent a premature delivery. During that month, I spent almost every night with her in her hospital room (while her husband was out with “friends”). She was constantly assured of the love and support of God and our entire family. During bleak days and nights, this scripture was constantly in my mind.
    Six weeks after the baby’s birth, our daughter filed for divorce for the safety of herself and her precious baby.

    When her daughter –our first grandchild–was born, our hearts exploded with love! We could never adequately describe how completely we love and cherish this granddaughter–our very special gift from God! Nineteen years later, all of us know: God is ALWAYS working things for our good when we are called according to His purpose!

  23. Not the typical choice for a verse but I love how 1Thessalonians 5:16-17 encourage us to look forward and anticipate our Lord’s return.

    “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

    Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

    I wonder what that shout will sound like? Will the trump sound anything like our trumpets today? And the thought of being ever and ever with our Lord fills my heart with joy and longing and excitement for rest and true peace.

  25. That verse is perfect, as it brought tears to my eyes. My youngest daughter has been called to be a missionary. I have had a peace about this all through her growing up years. Now as she is in her last year of college and will be doing her internship, she is talking about the Philippines and the peace leaves me! So far away! I need to reminded that God will be with her, no matter where she is.

  26. What an amazing verse…this year has been full of trials. My oldest lamb is temporarily out of my home…I miss him. My dear mom went home to be with the Lord in April…I miss her too. Thanks for the reminder of God’s presence. For He is all I need.

  27. Wow, there are so many good ideas here. I do love this style of art, and it would look really good in the room I am currently redoing after a sweet child moved out, all grown up. I love Zeph 3:17. This mental picture thrills and lifts me of my God, mighty and powerful, loving me so much that He sings over me! It reminds me of a mother tenderly rocking her precious child as she sings lullabies full of tender love, and then again it reminds me of a joyous, celebratory love that bursts out in song for the sheer joy of loving! to think that my Father loves me like this chases away self doubt. … but Jeremiah 31.3 would be beautiful, too, and would maybe fit better in a piece like this.

  28. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

    I always thought that was just reflexive, you know? If my heart delights in the Lord, he will give me himself, which is what he most wants to give. But this summer and since, it’s been a wake up call for the godly things I desire in my family but cannot accomplish. So I’ve been laying them out before him and then turning from the worry to delight in him and he surprises me with things coming to pass. Praise God, I’m learning to take him at his word.

  30. I would love either Psalm 4:8 (NIV) or “…there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
    – 2 Corinthians 12:7b-9a (NIV)
    Psalm 4:8 is a verse I found in my early teen years and clung to through a very dark season of spiritual warfare. I’ve since taught it to my children and we sing it together as a family before bed each night.
    The second Cor. verses are an ongoing reminder that God is here for me in the midst of chronic pain and health struggles. Through Him, this illness doesn’t “win” but becomes instead a tool He uses to bring glory to Himself! πŸ™‚

    I have so many but the one that I would love to have as art is out of Hebrews…It is Hebrews 4:16
    Therefore let us draw near with confidence to throne of grace, So that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

    This scripture means so much to me because when I needed help, I drew near and JESUS was right there to comfort me!! PTL!!!

  32. I always find myself longing for more items like this to decorate my home with. It’s great to look around my home and be reminded of God’s promises and in turn, hiding His Word in my heart simply because I am surrounded by it.

  36. This beautiful piece touches deep within my soul. It was just under 2 years ago that I found myself discouraged, despondent, and truly questioning my fate, my life and suicide. As a believer I questioned death with an unbelieving heart and mind stricken by lies, deception and self pity. Not allowing myself to taste God’s word, my pit became deeper and darker. However, my search for truths to my flesh of whether God forgives those who forsake life led me to the story of King Saul and his own death. I was unhappy to discover that what I do deeply effects those around me, and possibly in an extremely tragic way. I was shown that my life mattered, not only to God, but to everyone that knows and loves me. Too much responsibility! One day I resolved to open His Word. I opened to Psalm 139 and began to take in every word. The promises of God pierced my aching heart. For one of the first times in my life of 40 years, I felt His presence overwhelming my soul. He never leaves me. Whether in my pit or on the mountain, He has been there. A tidal wave of emotion and trickles of restoration came over me. God’s words are powerful. His presence is alive and I knew from then on, He is with me wherever I go. He will never forsake me. His words claim forever and the Spirit of Truth powerfully testifies. Psalm 46:10 is one of my life verses. “Be still and know that I AM the LORD.” To quiet our schedules, our minds and our hearts are essential. To know deep within your soul that He is who he says He is His gift; to allow Him to dissolve who I am into the mighty stillness of Him, this is priceless, eternal and beyond description.

  38. Love it! It’s real- it’s a part of you- and it say so much more than just the words of the verse. I have an artist daughter- I know how personal it becomes.

    After our youngest daughter died 4 years ago-her favorite color was Green. Her favorite word was HOpe. This verse continued to remind me that God was indeed ‘filling me up” in ways I could not fathom. It continues to be part of every day as I am beginning a new ministry called “GREEN HOPE” Coaching
    My verse is Romans 15:13. May the God of GREEN HOPE fill you up with peace, fill you up with joy, so that your believing lives, filled with the life giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over wtih HOPE!

    Or another precious passage has been Psalm 40:1-3.
    1 I waited patiently for the LORD to help me,
    and he turned to me and heard my cry.
    2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
    out of the mud and the mire.
    He set my feet on solid ground
    and steadied me as I walked along.
    3 He has given me a new song to sing,
    a hymn of praise to our God.
    Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
    They will put their trust in the LORD.

These words Come To Me Instantly when I’m worried and fearful..questioning the ways of this world like Wars..Fighting among brethren..competing..hurting one another for no reason.

  45. Your work is beautiful. When you asked what scripture we would like, it is actually words to a hymn that came to my heart and mind. I know it is different, and there are many verses that speak to my heart, but the words, “It is well with my soul,” God is using so strongly right now. Two weeks ago my grandpa, Henry, went to be with Jesus after 90 years here. His whole family was with him as he took those steps into Glory. It is before those steps, while in the hospital, holding his hand as he took some of his last breaths that God used the words, “It is well with my soul,” to comfort my heart and provide peace in those hard moments.

    When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
    When sorrows like sea billows roll;
    Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
    It is well, it is well, with my soul.

  58. I take incouragement from these posts each day and don’t leave comments, but this piece spoke to me so and is part of the MOPS verse for this year. Father battling dementia, husband’s business gone, three little souls to provide for–these are trying times and these verses help me daily when I see them around me.

    I have a few that have brought me smiles when I read them like, Proverbs 16:31 “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.”

    1 Thessalonians 2:7 “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

    And others that give me presence: 1 Corinthians 13:8 “Love never ends.”
    Ephesians 3:18 “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

    Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

As a fairly new Christian (who THOUGHT she was saved as she sat in a church pew for decades) there are a lot of verses that are competing to be my favorite….but my constant prayer since truly accepting the Lord is that of David in Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

  75. Being 23 with my life so unexpected, growing up with chronic illness, finding a tumor on my liver in May of this year, and getting a liver transplant on September 1, I hold this verse dear to my heart:

  87. I recently returned from a mission trip to Kenya with my husband and three kids (17, 15, and 12). This experience was life-altering. We were broken by what we saw.
    Their need is so great. Their faith is so rich. We fell in love with Africa and its people.
    I don’t ever want to return to living “life as normal”. I want to use my voice, my time, my money to better the lives of the voiceless, the sick, the poor. The following verse has become dear to me:
    “Once our eyes are opened, we cannot pretend we do not know what to do.
    God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know and holds us responsible to act.” -Proverbs 24:12

  95. What a beautiful way of giving us a window into your life & art – and how beautiful to see the myriad of different verses that mean so much so so many – what an encouragement to read down through these posts! The first verse that came to mind was Eph 3:20-21,
    20Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.; but another passage followed on its’ heels quickly – Psalm 8:3-5 (or entire chapter) 3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
    Whenever I read, hear, or see the passage from Psalm 8, I can hear the music in my head I learned while in college – “The Majesty & Glory of Your Name –
    When I gaze Into the night sky And see the work Of Your fingers
    The moon and stars Suspended in space
    But what is man That You are mindful of him?
    You have given man A crown of glory and honor
    And have made him A little lower than the angels

  96. Can I just tell you how much I absolutely adore this…love, big puffy heart love it! I would struggle to nail down just ONE verse, but the very first one that keeps coming to mind is “Yet I am not alone for my Father is with me” ~ John 16:32, which was an extra special verse for our family when in 2005 my oldest son spent 51 days in the PICU and we almost lost him 3 times while he was there. We clung to that very Scripture, the Bible and our church family during that time. Would love to have that as a reminder of that season of our lives…thankfully our son is doing great now, but I will never forget how important that particular verse was (and is) to us! <3 Melissa

    I would say that I have two different Scriptures I would love to have put into art. The first is the passage from Matt 6 where Jesus talks about not worrying. I know its a long passage (v. 25-34). Well, hello there, life passage!

    The other is Isaiah 30:15: In quietness and rest is your salvation. Dude. I so don’t live like that sometimes. Or most times. I talk like the fate of the world depends on it.

  98. My favourite verse would have to be the one I read when I became a christian 10 years ago. I opened up the bible to Psalm 139 v14 I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous, Of this I have no doubt.

  101. Wow — look at all these people who know their scripture! Exciting! I couldn’t look through all the comments to see if this one had already been said, but I just gain so much hope when I read Jeremiah 29: 11-14.

    But today, I also read Jer 17: 8. It says, “They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of doubt. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”

    I waited patiently for the LORD;
    he inclined to me and heard my cry.

    I continuously read Psalm 40. The passage was spoken over me several weeks ago during intercessory prayer, and I go back to it often because it reminds me of God’s promises. How awesome would it be to have the verse permanently displayed in my house!

    is the one we are focusing on at the moment. I love how God gives us passages from His word that fit the moment we are in right now. He never leaves us, always loves us.
