What a Weekend with 1,700 Sisters (in)RL Looks Like

What if you opened the door of your favorite beach house and discovered nearly 1,700 of your closest friends inside?

That’s a lot like how we felt this weekend.

Meeting you all – (in) real life.

This remarkable glimpse into the women and hearts and lives and smiles and stories of the (in)courage community awed us!

You. Are. Beautiful.

And as we read your tweets, watched your comments, scrolled through your photos with lumps in our throats and tears on our cheeks, well in the words of Kristen from A Social Media Love {Thy Neighbor} Story – this day of world wide meetups? This day of 1,700 women tuning in to encourage each other? This day of social media connecting us across borders, time zones, and past hurts?

This day of Jesus bringing together His daughters in a celebration of community?

This was a day and a moment that only God could sign His name to.

We are humbled. We are exhilarated. And yes, we are already planning for (in)RL 2013!

(in)RL Community Video Contest!

You may have heard us mention (in)RL a couple times by now. We are pretty excited about it and we hope you are, too!

If you are new to hearing about (in)RL, we’re bring an (in)courage conference to life! Well, better to think of it as an un-conference, since we’re hoping it will be all kinds of unexpected- no waiting lists, no need for plane tickets, no limited number of spots- everyone is (in) and no one’s out with (in)RL. {You can sign up to register and host a meetup here}. Saturday, April 28th will be a day full of (in)courage meetups – think mini beach house parties – all around the country and globe and a webcast for everyone to tune into. Just imagine thousands of (in)courage women all over the world getting together in homes, coffee shops, restaurants, or churches – you name it- to connect in real life.

We’ll have a variety of video tracks pre-recorded so that your meet-up can tune in any time of the day to our webcast without worrying about time zones and watch as many of the videos as you’d like.

We would like to invite you to be a part of one of our (in)RL videos!

We’re looking for video submissions that reflect what community means to you. Here are the details for video submissions:

  • Focus on Community: We would like for you to share what community looks like in your life. Whether you think of it as belonging, support, friendship, family.. or you’ve been hurt and then healed by community.. we want you to share it with us.
  • Group or Individual submissions welcome: We’re really leaving the content of the video up to you. You know We want you to get creative and just be yourself! And grab a friend or two  and make it a group effort {it is all about community, after all!}.
  • 10-15 Minutes: Video submission should be 10-15 minutes long.
  • Amateurs Welcome: This does not need to be done with a professional camera. We’re looking for real, genuine footage here.. using your regular camcorder or video recording feature on your camera will work just fine {no video submissions from a camera phone, please}.
  • Script, Shoot, Edit, Submit: We’re looking for finished, polished submissions. Your work on our webcast – how cool would that be!
  • Deadline: What do you think? Are you interested? Deadline for all submissions is February 14th, 2012. A team at (in)courage and DaySpring will sort through the submissions and choose one to be a part of the (in)RL webcasts.
  • Submit your Entry: Please upload your submission to Vimeo and then fill out this (in)RL Video Submission Agreement Form. Here you’ll be able to insert a link to your entry on Vimeo.
  • Win! The winning selection – in addition to having your video join the (in)RL line up – will win a $250 cash prize and a $250 store credit shopping spree to DaySpring.com. Winners will be chosen based on creativity, originality, and an expression of community that resonates with the heart of (in)courage and the hope of (in)RL.
  • Announcing the Winner! The winner of the video submission contest will be announced on March 5th, 2012.
