Therefore if you have any encouragement
from being united with Christ,
if any comfort from his love,
if any common sharing in the Spirit,
if any tenderness and compassion,
then make my joy complete by being like-minded,
having the same love,
being one in spirit and of one mind.
Philippians 2:1-2
I think this is good advice for many churches. We spend more time disagreeing than we do spreading his love. One church I belonged to in NJ agreed to disagree. This is a necessity in a congregation that isn’t a cult. We need to take our disagreements to God and trust that he will solve our problems. God wants peacemakers and we can only merit that title, if by our actions we show true love to one another .
God is not a God of contention. I definitely want to be on His side.
Love this passage!
And here’s what NOT to do …

This reminds me of why it is so important to read the WORD. Without it (even with it sometimes, hehe!), without God’s word as our standard, we Christians can be so divided and counter productive. It’s in our common love of God and His word that the world sees our love for each other and them. And drawing them near brings overwhelming joy.
