Have you ever had that feeling that something is amiss, a vacancy of the deepest kind?
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a blessed woman. My day overflows with opportunities to taste of the many delicacies God has placed in my life. From warm wet snuggly kisses planted by my kids to the times of purpose and promise ministering to women; I have a lot to be thankful. But in the middle of my place of satiety and comfort there are moments when I become all too aware of “the void”.
What is “the void”? The void is that part of you that longs for more. It’s the desire to be full in every aspect of your life. Not in a greedy let me get all I can have or let me take so you can’t have way, but rather from a position of wanting to feel complete. It’s the gravitational pull of your soul stretching you down to the core foundation of who you really are and what your purpose is on the earth. It’s the pull to divine intimacy, a deep longing which cannot be satisfied easily but one that needs to be immersed.
Do I really want to go there today? Yes the pull is stronger than it’s ever been, but do I really want to take the plunge to see the purpose of the void? In the middle of yelling kids, carpooling, office work, cooking and laundry, there’s a deafening call to accept the challenge to live fully. There’s an invitation to fill the void and go deeper still. Is the purpose of this void to draw me into You? Dare I accept this invitation?
“Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” Psalm 42:7
Dear Lord,
This is my RSVP. I accept your invitation. Today in the midst of all the noise of my busy life, it is the sound of your deeper place that is calling my name the loudest. I don’t know what’s missing, but you do. I’m ready to be immersed in your presence today and allow myself to be swept away by the magnitude of your love towards me. May we go deeper still into the purpose of the void.
Sincerely,
Beloved

Again and again today {already}, I am Seeing how the *whirl and twirl of living* is for such purpose–He allows it as discipline to Trust Him, to look intently for Him and His Grace, and to See.
Rich blessings, Saundra, as you sift out the purpose in it All…
Saundra Dalton-Smith says
Well put Amy! His Grace often seems elusive, then I realize I just was not looking closely enough to see it. Blessings to you and may the whirl and twirl become a treasured place of discovery.

Oh, we are made for more…more of Jesus, more of His plan, more or who He’s called us to be. I often fill that more in ways that can’t satisfy in the end (um, more Nutella, please?). Thanks for the reminder of what those heart longings are really all about!
Saundra Dalton-Smith says
Oh Holley, we are kindred spirits! I’ve found “the more” in the bottom of a few of Nutella/PB myself. Always refreshing when I finally find the real reason for my hunger. Blessings to you!

Thanks for stopping by today Donna and sharing some love! Praying He overflows your week with more of HIM.

Oh yes … He is always inviting us into something more, something deeper, something greater and more substantial. Now to make that choice to respond to Him … in the midst of the crazy busyness of our lives …
He still beckons in that still, small voice like He did to that little boy Samuel {1 Samuel 3}.
Saundra Dalton-Smith says
You are so right Linda, He is always inviting. What a loving Bridegroom we have! Even when we repeatedly deny Him our presence, He still beckons us again to “come away my Beloved”. Blessings to you and praying His call today finds you receptive.

Interesting point on this. Ive always felt that I couldn’t explain that feeling.
smooches,
Larie
Saundra Dalton-Smith says
The pull of eternal love certainly is a difficult feeling to explain Larie. Somethings are just meant to be experienced. Many blessings to you!

Beautifully written and soulfully expressed. Sometimes we (I) forget in the busyness that my life with God has been spent swimming in the shallows and there’s so much more waiting for me in the deep.
Very grateful for this. Thank you.
Saundra Dalton-Smith says
Thank you Anne for your encouraging words on this post. Shallow waters with God are good, but so far below what He wants for us. Launch out into the deep with Him! He’s waiting for you!

What a beautiful post. I feel the tug on my spirit. I will answer the call. I will say “yes”!
Saundra Dalton-Smith says
Thank you Barbie! A heart-felt “Yes” is all He wants from each of us. Blessings to you.
