I’ve likely had a hundred mothers. Friends, sisters, professors, roommates, coworkers, neighbors, “I’ve been there too” smilers in the checkout line at Target, and white-haired ladies at church. I’m guessing you’ve had at least a dozen mamas too. Women who have made a meal for you, spoken life over you, rubbed your back, called you out, cheered you on, and showed you how to keep on keepin’ on.
That is what makes a mother. Whether a child shares our last name or DNA, we are all made to mother. To nurture and mentor, to teach and cheerlead, to comfort and encourage.
The world needs mothers. The world needs you. And we see you.
We see you stepping in and filling the gap. We see you offering wise words and helping hands. Maybe you labored through hours of painful contractions or years of prayers and paperwork for a courtroom declaration. Maybe no one has ever called you mom, but you are still known for your chicken noodle soup, sound advice, and hugs that warm the soul through.
At (in)courage we welcome and celebrate every kind of mother. Thank you for all the ways you love the people in front of you and serve the world around you. Happy Mother’s Day.
With love,

Beverly,
Happy Mothers day to all moms out there. You have a tough job raising children in this sinful world. You are doing the best you can. All women could be called moms in a sense. We nurture care for others, cook meals, call & check on friends & family. Even run errands & go visit sick ones in hospital. Yesterday I had the privilege of getting food for a friend’s family. Their dad had a stroke a month ago & two weeks ago was in a bad logging accident where a tree fell on his left side. As a friend & caring Christian I put together all the food I could for this family. Just wanting them to see Christ’s love shine through.
Happy mothers day everyone!
Blessings 🙂

Wishing all the moms a happy Mother’s Day! I want to encourage the single moms. I am one of them myself. I know how hard your days can be and all the decisions that are on your shoulders. Be encouraged as you are not alone. You are doing a good job. My only child is now grown and recently married. Life does get easier and better so hang in there. Try to savor the moments and always look to our precious Lord and Savior who sees everything. He will help you through all that you face. I promise you, life does get easier. On those days that are overwhelming, just do what is before you one thing at a time. Put one foot in front of the other. This was advice that an elderly woman at my church gave me. It really helped me to stay focused and keep going. God bless you. Enjoy your day.

Beautiful words, Kathleen. Thank you for sharing. I was raised by a single mom and can testify to the amazing-grace ways God filled in the gaps for all that we lacked.
Three cheers and fierce hugs to all the extraordinary single moms today!
