I roll out of bed and step right into the shower. The boys seem to sense when I’m awake because they’re already in the bathroom asking for breakfast before my shower is done.
Get dressed, pour cereal, pack lunches, grab homework, climb into the car.
Then errands to run, bills to pay, emails to return, dishes to do, phone calls to make.
It usually hits me somewhere around mid-morning…that heavy feeling on my heart.
My thoughts drift to the friends who are on the brink of divorce or the big bill that we’ve got to figure out a way to pay.
And I realize I haven’t taken two seconds to turn my heart toward the Lord and talk with him.
Or be still before him.
I want my first thoughts to be about resting in him, remembering he loves his children, that he is good, the concerns of this life are temporary and heaven awaits.
I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name.
you are Mine.
Isaiah 43:1 NKJV
In the midst of life’s craziness, how do you find a little piece of quiet to refocus your heart and remember you are His?
