One – always keep a hurricane survival kit.
Two – make sure to board up the windows before Home Depot sells out of wood.
Three – make friends with a rich neighbor who owns a gasoline powered generator.
They seem like small things but when the time comes they make a HUGE difference.
Sadly, there are still some people who don’t prepare. They call themselves courageous for hunkering down and braving the storm. They laugh off hurricane threats as media exaggeration; they refuse to leave the area even after mandatory evacuations have been ordered. Some of them even SURF the waves as the hurricane closes in.
These kinds of people show up on the news later, not a courageous survivors, but as victims who lost their valuables or their lives to the storm.
Being prepared is mandatory…
