  1. Jen,
Like you said, God did with His son what He did not, could not, ask of Abraham with Isaac. I can’t even begin to fathom the love that God has for me…that He would sacrifice the life of His only son for me?? Every motherly instinct in me cries, “No!” But, yet He did and Jesus went willingly to the cross to bear my sins. Feeling the weight and importance of this day…thank you for a poignant post, Jen. Thank you too, for pointing us toward the hope that Sunday holds!!

    • Yes, Bev. It’s so easy for me to rush to the freedom that Sunday brings, but it was on this day that the ultimate sacrifice made.

  2. Thanks for this!!! Let’s pray for each other today–who can we share this Truth with? Maybe just by forwarding the link to this post? Pls pray for open hearts and minds as I share with about 55 teenagers today! Thanks, ladies!

    • I will be praying for you today, T. What a gift to be able to share with the next generation. They are the ones who will take this message on long after us. Blessings to you.

I second your sentiments! I, too, have glossed over this whole week in years past! I never thought much about Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, or Saturday. I’m saddened by the way the world has cheapened this whole week and especially Easter!!
I can’t begin to fathom how Jesus’ mother felt when seeing her only son on the Cross!! It must have been overwhelming and heartbreaking. So I echo your thoughts: Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, thank you…Hallelujah, What a Savior!! I don’t feel worthy of His love, grace and mercy!

    Praise God for Easter Sunday!!

  5. Jennifer,

Thank you for this thought provoking reflection. As a mother of 5 children including 3 sons, my mama’s heart cannot imagine making such a sacrifice. Even though I say “they belong to God”, would I remain convinced if their very lives were at stake? Mmm. And to think of the great sacrificial love that’s been paid for me. I too am moved to tears.
