Our (in)real life FRIENDED live event and simulcast is coming up in just a few months — October 14th to be exact! We’ve introduced you to a few of our speakers already including Annie Downs, Chrystal Hurst and, worship leader, Meredith Andrews.
Our final speaker is one that really needs no introduction. It’s our very own (in)courage Community Manager, Lisa-Jo Baker!
What do we love about Lisa-Jo? Let us count the ways — there are so many!!!
“Kitten watch” on Lisa-Jo’s Instagram is one of our favorite shows! We can’t even with how they sleep in her “in box.” Who knew an in box could be so cute?
We all know Lisa-Jo loves tea and her South African roots — and we love how she’s sharing this legacy with her kids! (Just look at that tea-drinking pinkie!)
One last tea party. Listen, we take our tea VERY seriously in South Africa. Five Roses and Rooibos are favorites in this house. Always hot. Always with milk and sugar. And rusks to dip. Rusks are sort of like biscotti. Hard. Sweet. They soften in the tea. They originated with the first Dutch settlers here – the Voortrekkers – who traveled months by wagon and couldn't pack bread. Rusks were a kind of dried out, long life bread that revitalized when dipped into hot tea. And hundreds of years later, no mater the weather, no matter how blazing hot it is here. Life stops morning and evening for tea. The household pauses and comes back around the table or gathers in the living room or around a coffee table for time. Time to slow and talk and savor. Savor the tea and each other.
And we love how Lisa-Jo manages to make us all feel more normal about ourselves, our kids’ messy rooms, our misses and mess-ups, and the gritty reality of daily life that you never feel quite grown up enough to be qualified to handle.
Lisa-Jo will be speaking at (in)real life FRIENDED and we want to make sure you don’t miss it! You can get tickets for the simulcast (and watch in your sweat pants — an oh-so Lisa-Jo thing to do) or you can join us in person in Nashville. All we care about is that you are a part of it!
And for more reminders of how there’s nothing ordinary about your everyday and how you are much braver and more beloved than you believe, connect with Lisa-Jo here on Instagram.
