  1. Alia Joy,
I love your writing voice…it surpasses the brain and speaks to my soul. I love that you are not afraid to write from a place of weakness so that others will not feel like they are all alone in this messy thing called life. I truly appreciate you speaking up in order to erase the stigma of mental illness. 1 in 4 people suffer, yet we still, especially the Christian community, want to sweep it under the rug or tell people they’d be fine if they just had a stronger faith or prayed harder. Have your book and trying to find time to dig in.

    Bonnie,
Thank you for speaking rest into our weary souls. When I read your words, I automatically start to breathe more slowly and the stress dissipates. In a world where women have deemed self care and rest as luxuries, thank you for being a voice that says, “This is a necessity, ladies.” You have been a cheerleader in my own personal journey to pursue better self care and spiritual white space.

    Blessings to you both,
    Bev xx

  2. Alia,

I’m so admire you for vocalizing the need for more conversation on mental illness in churches. I’ve heard it said that people with psych issues need to pray more or have more faith & don’t believe in taking pills. They seem to be pharisee like. Life is hard down here between two Edens. Sin & turmoil running rampant. Your book is desperately needed & will give many women hope, help & answers to their problems. Love that you speak of our identity in Christ even with problems. Agreeing with you that we have freedom in Jesus. We don’t/can’t work our way into Heaven. Perhaps one day we will find solutions to some of our more troubling psych issues. Praying God will bless you & your family.

    Bonnie,

I remember when your book “Spiritual Whitespace” came out. I was in a season of high stress & anxiety. Then your book “Whispers of Rest” came out. I loved that book & did the study with you on Facebook. You books are super important to women these days. Life gets busy with emotional & physical stress. We don’t take care of ourselves. Thus we get all kinds of illnesses. I have used some of your soul care practices & passed them on to others. The added plus is being able to slow down & hear God talk to us. It is super important that we do stuff like that for ourselves so we can go forth & care for others. Your ideas are great & healing for our mind, body & soul. Praying God will bless your work & your family.

    Blessings 🙂
